Three Bulldogs get postseason honors
Three Holmes Community College Bulldog basketball players received postseason honors following the 2010 campaign. Freshman Anthony Jones was named Second Team All-State while Gabe Osagie and Clyde Moore were named All-Star. The game will be played at East Central on March 25.

Bulldogs run in state tournament short-lived
SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs` run in the MACJC State Tournament here Monday afternoon was short-lived as Pearl River defeated the Bulldogs, 68-48, in the opening round. With the loss, the Bulldogs ended the season at 10-14. The Bulldogs came into the tournament as the North Division No. 4 team and Pearl River was the South Division No. 1. Anthony Jones led the Bulldogs with 21 points in the game. A Wildcat three-pointer with 11 minutes to play in the first half put the Wildcats up by 11 at 18-7. With 5:06 to play, Pearl River increased the lead to 13. With two minutes to go in the first half, the Wildcat lead was 21 points to make the score 35-14. Holmes` Anthony Borden made a bucket and was fouled late in the half. He hit the free throw which ended the first half scoring at 35-17. In the second half, the Bulldogs made a small run and Jones` three-pointer pulled the Bulldogs within 12 at 36-24. Pearl River then began to pull away in the second half and held a 25 point lead with seven minutes to go.

Bulldogs get win over Rangers; head to playoffs
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs backed their way into the MACJC State Tournament next week by slipping past Northwest Mississippi Community College, 67-65, here Thursday night. The Bulldogs finished the season at 10-13 and 6-6 in the North Division and slip into the tournament as the North No. 4 seed. The Bulldogs play South No. 1 Pearl River at 2 p.m. East Mississippi is the North 1 team, Itawamba is the North No. 2 team and Northeast is the North No. 3 team. Jones is the South No. 2 team, Hinds is the South No. 3 team and Gulf Coast is the South No. 4 team. Bulldogs fall to Lions, 89-58
SCOOBA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell here Monday night to East Mississippi, 89-58, and went to 9-13 overall and 5-6 in the North Division. Anthony Jones led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Gabe Osagie had 15. The Bulldogs end the regular season on Thursday night versus Northwest Mississippi Community College. Gametime is 8 p.m.

Bulldogs get win over Tigers in division play
CLARKSDALE --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs got a 74-70 North Division win over the Tigers of Coahoma Community College here Monday night. With the win, the Bulldogs went to 9-11 overall and 5-4 in the North Division. Anthony Borden led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Gabe Osagie and Clyde Moore each had 14. The Bulldogs host the Itawamba Indians Thursday night at 8 p.m. They then travel to Scooba to play East Mississippi on Monday at 7:30 p.m. and then return home to end the regular season versus Northwest at 8 p.m.

BOONEVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell to 3-4 in the North Division here Thursday after losing 68-66 to Northeast Mississippi Community College, it`s fourth straight division contest. With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 7-11 overall. James Archie led the Bulldogs with 16 points while Anthony Jones had 12 and Clyde Moore had 10. The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday, Feb. 4 versus Miss. Delta. Game time is 8 p.m.

Bulldogs fall versus Lions
GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Lady Bulldogs lost their second consecutive North Division contest versus East Mississippi here Thursday night, 62-47. With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-11 overall and 1-4 in the North Division. Tiffany Williams led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 points. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Northwest on Monday before traveling to Northeast on Thursday.

FULTON --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs lost their first North Division contest here Monday night versus Itawamba Community College, 75-69. With the loss, the Bulldogs fell to 7-8 overall and 3-1 in the North Division. Jonathan Ratliff led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Gabe Osagie had 15 points, Anthony Jones had 13 and Clyde Moore had 11. The Bulldogs host the East Mississippi Lions Thursday night in Goodman.

Jonathan Clay led the Bulldogs with 14 points while Gabe Osagie had 12 and James Archie and Anthony Jones each had 11. The Bulldogs travel to Fulton on Monday night to play Itawamba Community College and then host East Mississippi on Jan. 21.

SENATOBIA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell to 3-3 in the North Division here Monday night after falling to the Rangers of Northwest Mississippi Community College, 80-76. Gabe Osagie led the Bulldogs with 27 points while Clyde Moore had 16 and Anthony Borden had 10. The Bulldogs went to 7-10 overall. The Bulldogs travel to Booneville Thursday to play Northeast Mississippi Community College.

James Archie led the Bulldogs with 19 points while Anthony Jones and Jonathan Clay each had 12 and Gabe Osagie had 11. The Bulldogs host Coahoma Thursday before traveling to Itawamba on Monday.

WESSON --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs went to 5-6 on the season with a 84-73 win over the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves here Tuesday night. With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 5-6 on the season. Wil Hayden and Anthony Jones each led the Bulldogs with 16 points. James Archie followed with 15 while Kayland Partee and Gabe Osagie each had 12. The Bulldogs host Hinds Community College at 8 p.m. on Thursday night and then play Arkansas Baptist at 2 p.m. Saturday before traveling to Moorhead on Monday to play Mississippi Delta.

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs opened North Division play here Thursday night with a 57-54 overtime win over the Northeast Mississippi Community College Tigers to go to 4-6 on the season. Jonathan Ratliff led the Bulldogs with 17 points. The Bulldogs trailed the Tigers 30-25 at halftime. The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 5 versus Copiah-Lincoln at Wesson. ATLANTA --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell to 3-6 on the season here on Nov. 27-28 by falling to Atlanta Metro and Georgia Perimeter. On Friday, the Bulldogs fell to Atlanta Metro, 75-69. Anthony Jones led the Bulldogs with 18 points while Gabe Osagie had 16 and James Archie had 11. Atlanta Metro led 31-29 at halftime. On Saturday, the Bulldogs fell to Georgia Perimeter, 76-69. Jones led the Bulldogs with 20 points while Clyde Moore had 16. Georgia Perimeter led 36-31 at halftime. The Bulldogs play the Tigers of Northeast Mississippi Community College on Thursday at 8 p.m.

POPLARVILLE --- The Holmes Community College Bulldogs fell to 3-3 on the season here Thursday night with an 82-59 loss to the Wildcats of Pearl River Community College. Anthony Jones led the Bulldogs with 17 points while Clyde Moore had 15 and Jonathan Ratliff had 13. The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday versus Arkansas Baptist in Little Rock. They then participate in the Atlanta Metro Classic in Atlanta on Nov. 27-28. The Bulldogs play Atlanta Metro at 6 p.m. on Friday and Georgia Perimeter at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

GOODMAN --- The Holmes Community College men`s basketball team opened the 2009-10 campaign off with a 78-69 win over East Central Community College here Monday night. The Bulldogs led 33-31 at halftime. Jonathan Ratliff led the Bulldogs in scoring with 27 points while Anthony Jones followed with 20. The Bulldogs travel to Hinds Community College in Utica for a 7 p.m. contest with the Hinds Bulldogs.
